Healing in pandemic times

Like everyone, I'm struggling to figure out what to do with myself in this surreal and sometimes frightening situation. But then I remind myself that we've got through difficult times before — we can do it again. In the last days I've found a great deal of comfort, as so often before, by playing the piano. My partner Anna does the same with her art. I think this is part of what I was trying to get at with my Healing album, which was also written in response to dealing with a scary health problem. When I was first starting to talk about this album I wrote that "the strength of any person comes from their willingness to confront the darkest moments, to accept reality for what it is and to choose to move forward." Those words seem much more challenging to me now, but I still know that's what we need to do. It's what I tried to do with Healing: look the darkness in the eye and move through it.

My record label 1631 Recordings have agreed to let people download Healing for free — click here

For the first time I'm publicly sharing the full video that combines Anna's art with my music — see below.
