Coping Mechanism (album, 2015)
In June 2015 Garreth and his artist partner Anna Salzmann ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to fund a collection of Garreth's compositions featuring a series of artworks by Anna.
Just after the crowdfunding campaign finished, Garreth's mother - who had suffered from depression off-and-on for almost 15 years - took her own life.
The album was heavily influenced by this trauma, something that is particularly evident in the tracks 'Coping Mechanism', 'Waking at 2am to Grief' and the centrepiece of the album, 'Mum'.
Garreth subsequently wrote about the experience of losing a parent to suicide in a Facebook post that went viral and was re-published in the UK national press. This led to some work with Samaritans UK and an article published on Huffington Post for World Suicide Prevention Day 2016.
