Hiding Reworks

I’m releasing some new music todayClick here to listen, or read on…

I’m really excited to share my new project with you. It’s called Hiding Reworks, I’ve been working on it for over a year, and it’s finally ready to meet the world.

Back in 2019 I released an album called Healing, inspired by artwork by my partner Anna Salzmann.

Every time I performed the album I kept having new ideas for it. It felt like the piece itself wanted to grow.

I ended up inviting a group of wonderful musicians to create a series of reworks of one of the pieces, encouraging them to be as adventurous as they liked — a task that they really embraced, leading to some mesmerising results.

The result is this EP, in which Hiding is presented in six different forms.

First, you’ll hear the original piece re-recorded on a gorgeous felted C. Bechstein upright piano. That single is out today!

If you enjoy it, please tell your streaming service by hearting or liking the piece — this increases the likelihood of it reaching more people.

In a couple of weeks we’ll enjoy a rework from the wonderful Australian clarinetist and looper Ruby Lulham, aka Clariloops.

Later in February we’ve got an exhilerating rework by Sweden-based Vargkvint and Jakob Lindhagen featuring wordless vocals, kantele, zither, harmonium, electric organ and synthesizers.

The full release—featuring music by ondes martinot-specialist and synth expert Josh Semans, and a vocal rework of the track with lyrics by Anna Salzmann—will come out in March. You can pre-order the EP here.

The cover of the EP shown below is also a rework by a talented artist: Celia Bayo took the original motif by Anna Salzmann and places it in a new context, subtly highlighting the fact that there are six tracks in the album.

I really hope you enjoy the music. It’s been a real blast to work with these guys, they’re super-talented and really lovely.
