Healing on vinyl

I could not be more delighted to share this with you: my Healing album is now available on vinyl. Some real blood, sweat and tears have gone into this and I could not be more pleased with the results: it looks and sounds gorgeous. If you already know you want it, here’s the link!

Healing is one of my most popular works and definitely the most elaborate: it's a collaboration with my artist partner Anna Salzmann based on 11 gorgeous paintings. It explores the healing process in all its complexity and, as composer Danny Mulhern writes in the vinyl liner notes, creates a space to reflect on "the meaning of many of our personal and collective human experiences, and of course how art can be used to respond."

We've used the vinyl gatefold and sleeve as a showcase for Anna's art — from the striking red of Heart - Map on the cover to the darkness of Process (Event Horizon) on the sleeve.

As well as the original Healing album, the vinyl has an exclusive 15 minute track called Lost (Drifting) — you can hear part of it by clicking above. It builds on some of my favourite motifs from the main piece and takes them in a different direction: the instrumentation is much richer, featuring synths, felted piano, rhodes organ, and plenty of delay and reverb, giving it a more minimalist-ambient feel, which I know will appeal to a lot of you!

Those of you who've seen me perform Healing live know how much the piece means to me and how touched I've been by the way it has been received. I'm delighted that Les Disques d'Accalmie have released it in this new format with such care and attention to detail and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as Anna and I did creating it.
